Information letter for helpers

.

You desire to share in our community life of prayer and work during a while? Please read further: this will give you some general information which may be helpful as you prepare your stay.

Our Community is made up of women who come from the Churches of the Reformation. The heart of our vocation is the call to be a sing of unity and reconciliation in the Church and in the world. The Community belongs to the monastic tradition, hence “ora et labora” (pray and work) expresses the orientation of our common life. While silence and solitude are important elements of our daily life, your intergration to the life in the helpers group requiers a certain openness and confidence towards one another.

As much as possible we strive to maintain a simple life-style. We live out this simplicity in solidarity with all men and women who are committed to the respect of human life and of creation.

Prayer is the heart of our community life. We gather together to pray four times a day and you are invited to take part in this prayer. Your participation in the work – which by the way is quite simple – will be primarily in the practical sectors.

A sister will be especially appointed as your ‘vis-a-vis’ for personal contact and spiritual accompaniment.

Our main-language is french, and all of our prayers are held in french. Please do consider this fact in advance and listen to yourself if this does not bother you.

In general, helpers plan to stay for a minimum of three to four weeks. It may prove beneficial to extend this period. However, this decision is to be made together with your ‘vis-a-vis-sister’ and with the Community.

We would be most grateful if you would write to us specifying the reasons for which you desire to live with our Community. This will help us to better understand your request and to guide you in your search. Thank you and be welcomed!
